daField1 already exists

I get the error daField1 already exists when creating a second data view in
the designer (at design time) and try to create a master/detail relation
between them. If I do the same at runtime in the designer, it works. I
assume it has something to do with the fact that the packages are not
rebuild yet in the latest RB 6.0 (after replacing the ppEngine.pas)? When
will a new full release be available?

I would check the corrupt installation instructions in the tech-tips
newsgroup to search for RB's bpls. Perhaps older packages are being used by
Delphi.

Hi Jim...

I tried today to solve this problem by doing a full remove of ReportBuilder
as described in tech-tips to no avail. I still get "daFiel1 already exists".
Any other ideas?

Which database are you using? The DADE plugins haven't been rebuilt until
we get the Delphi 6 version for the other 3rd party databases. Have you
installed RB6.01? How are the dataviews configured- are there search
criteria, order by's, calc fields, or joins?

Hi Jim...


I investigated a bit further. The database I use is a custom made Dataset as
well as DADE Plugin to support Documentum (a document management system).
This problem only occurs when I have two dataviews and connect them in a
master/detail relation. The detail table will produce this error, while the
master table is fine (when each query is executed). I use RB 6.01 Ent and
did a rebuild of my DADE plugin. Did anything change between 5.5 and 6.01
that will make it necessary for me to change my DADE Plugin? And if yes,
what do I need to change/add?

There were a few changes and updates to the linking logic. Since we don't
have the other DADE plugins rebuilt (which you could use as examples),
you'll need to trace through the DADE code to get your plug-in working,
sorry.
