Getting Selected item from TppReportExplorer

This seems like it should be trivial. But it is not. I just need to get
the currently selected item from the ReportExplorer. Is this even possible?

    Glenn,

    Try accessing the rbItem dataset used by the ReportExplorer and retrieve the
    current record. This should be the item currently selected in the report
    explorer
