Space Horizontally not working correctly

edited July 2001 in General
I realize this ranks fairly low in the scheme of things, but you are back to
a 00 version...

In the report designer, the 'space horizonally' tool does not work properly.
I put 30 fields in my detail band, move the last one to the far right of the
page, select them all and click on the space-horizonally button.
They all get spaced evenly, but do not take up the full width of the
available area, leaving a gap between the 29th and 30th item.

I would imagine this has something to do with rounding the available space
into inches or pixels or cubits before spacing the items back out. I have
turned off the grid, so it should not be interfering.

I don't believe the code has changed in the designer for the horizontal
spacing action. I see that the gap between each element is different when
they are spaced horizontally. All of the elements in the selection should be
spaced evenly, but since the widths of each object aren't taken into
account, the actual space varies between each element. This certainly can be
enhanced and I'll put it on the to-do list.

Thanks Jim, I agree that the widths of the object are not taken into
consideration, and nor should they be - it should space evenly based
on the Left property of each selected control. If it can do that,
then it should work as expected.

With RB 6, I placed a bunch of labels and spaced them horizontally. I
checked all of their left values and they were evenly divided between the
leftmost and rightmost label's left positions. I like this behavior and it
is useful, however, it might be nice to also be able to space the elements
so that an equal amount of space prints between them, most likely when
    printing shapes and images.
