The RB 11 Report Designer introduces new user interface themes/skins and several major enhancements to boost productivity.
Designer Themes
Use the new Office 2007 and Outlook 2007 themes to update your ReportBuilder user interface. These themes support the Office 2007 Blue, Silver, and Black color schemes. You can specify the color scheme or optionally choose the 'adaptive' setting to auto-detect the Office 2007 color scheme stored in the Windows Registry.
Designer Guides
Use the new Design Guides to quickly align and size objects relative to one another. Guides automatically appear whenever an object is being moved or resized and the object becomes aligned with another object's top, bottom, left, or right.
Edit in Place for Labels and Memos
Quickly edit Label Captions and Memos using the new 'Edit in Place' feature. For a Label, double-click to invoke edit mode, type in a new caption and then either press the 'enter' key or click outside of the Label area. For Memos, double-click to invoke edit mode, type in any number of lines - word wrapping is automatic - and then click outside the Memo area.
Parameters, Lookups, AutoSearchSettings
Easily create and configure Report Parameters at design-time - including the powerful new lookup features and autosearch support. Use the Report Tree's new Parameters node to add, rename, and delete Parameter objects - simply press the right button to invoke the context menu. Configure lookup and autosearch features via the object inspector by selecting any Parameter node.
BringForward/SendBackward
Easily arrange object z-order using the new BringForward, SendBackward commands that augment the existing BringToFront, SentToBack commands. Object z-order is displayed by the Report Tree. Z-Orders commands are available from the context that can be invoked by pressing the right mouse button while position over any element.
