  • David;

You perfectly summed up what I was trying to say. I hope DM's developer
team is reading this thread. The VCL.Net will only be used by the legacy
Borland's tool (Delphi, C++), and it's only for transitional process…

I agree. VS.NET is here now and is in serioius need of a good report

  • Hi Nico;

This is great for Delphi developers who will have a tool to move their
"existing code" to .Net framework. And I certainly appreciate DM for
being so considerate, however this port will not be a "native" .net cod…

    Agree.
VS.NET will almost certainly win the fight with D4.NET at my company.

  • Nico,

I think you'd be missing out on a HUGE market if you didn't have a version
for Visual Studio - plus I'd have a decent report writer for my app :-)

I've looked around and there isn't anything out there at the moment w…

  • That's great news. I should be able to use this within Visual Studio.Net
    then?

    Thanks

  • Thanks, I used the TextPipeline with a Text file. That is I wrote the
contents of the label as a delimitted record on to a text file, and thus
same record is repeated so many times as the required labels. and thats it !
    worked fine. T…
  • There is no dataset as such, actually the user enters the values which
    should be printed.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Nico,
thank You for explaining this to me. That explains everything.

  • Hi Nico!

Thank You for Your reply. These reports are not for any customer form, they
are just a report from my medical aplication and there are some signs to be
printed out on paper. I agree that PSP is not the best software to …
  • any suggestions?

  • Well despite my previous beliefs. The closing of the preview window only
causes an AV on one of my forms. All my other forms work great. not sure
what is happening or even how to fix this.

  • Thanks! I'll check it out at the office tomorrow...

  • Thanks, is there any way of determining if all pages were printed (or if
bonehead user printed a range)? If not, is there a simple way to disable
range setting short of designing a custom print dialog?

  • Wonderful! It works; it's done!

may have some software that works for you.

  • We've installed a HP Laserjet 4 with the latest drivers
and this has made no difference to this problem. I've also
had one of the developer uninstall RB and re-install and he gets
    the same error.

  • Thanks guys.

Overall, I think RBuiler is a much better product, but,
(I hate to say it) that's one over RBuilder via Ace.

Maybe one for the Digital Metaphor's designers to consider for a future rev?

    Thanks again…

  • Jon,

You might also check in the OnCalc for the same conditions you check in the
    BeforePrint event.

Thanks, just got done installing the update and it definitely fixed the
    problem.
  • > Are you using ReportBuilder version 7.02? There was a problem with RB 7

No, I believe I am using RB 7.00. Yesterday I sent an e-mail to
support@digital-metaphors.com asking for information on how to get the
    latest version…
  • I managed to create a small copy of this.

    Cheers,
    Rodger,

  • By my initial testing it appears that placing a timer to close the form
instead of using the event delays the closing enough that it allows
    everything to be freed.

    Thanks,
    Rodger

  • Not exactly. I don't want to close the main form.

What I have is a MDI application where the user clicks on a report type and
it creates the report form, supplies the Query with the necessary param
values, then calls print to d…
  • Just a little more info.

I get an AV now even after the first time closing it. (just made some
changes to my SQL. Also I get an AV if I use the built in preview or my
    custom one.

  • If I close the form after calling Report.Print and I do not have the
ModalPreview set to true the preview pops up then closes right away. and the
user never can see the report. Maybe I'm missing something.

    Thanks,

  • This problem started after I took an existing Master->Detail report and
converted it from the Query's being linked to having the pipelines linked to
try an speed up the report.

    Thanks in advance,

  • The second snipit should be closing the form when the preview window gets
closed. That way I can free up the memory associated with the form.

    Thanks,
    Rodger

  • Nico,

For any lurkers out there -- Do any of you know of a third-party product
