Use ExtraDev for screen & printer??!

edited May 2003 in Devices
I'm now in the odd situation that my RBuilder output is correct when saved
to file using ExtraDev, but incorrect when previewed or printed. This is (I
think) because the output contains rich text components where each text
component has multiple paragraphs, and each paragraph may have different
paragraph attributes, in particular for tab settings. When ExtraDev is
present, it is correctly interpreting the paragraph-by-paragraph changes to
the attributes. When ExtraDev is absent, nobody's doing this job.

Is there some way I can get ExtraDev to do this job when the output is *not*
going to an ExtraDev-defined device?

Thanks.

I have had success with this by registering the InfoPower RichEdit control
as the default RichEdit control for Report Builder. There are instructions
in the RBuilder Help about how to do this. This allows for changing of
paragraph, justification, tabs, line spacing, etc. within your rich text.
Please note however that James Waler has stated to me that he does not use
the InfoPower controls so he cannot support any problems that arise between
the Infopower control and the ExtraDev control. That being said, the two
work almost flawlessly together and there have been only a few minor
problems and James has gone out of his way to try and help accommodate us
    with this.

You might also be able to try registering the WPTools RichEdit control for
the same effect. And I believe Waler does have code supporting this one.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike. I was hoping for something simpler but I
    may try that.

Sometimes it seems like ExtraDev really should be part of RBuilder ....
