I also notice that after dismissing the dialog with OK, a windowless
instance of my application remains in the task list, which I have to
kill with Process Explorer.

I was able to use your example and make the background red. However, I am
not clear on how to add the button and event code for the extra button. Do
you have another example where a button is actually being addeed?

I ran the demo but could not duplicate the error we are having. I am not
quite sure what the difference is between what the demo is doing and what we
are doing.

needs to detect whether it (as a 32 bit application) is running in
