Exporting Single Text File from Multiple Subreports

edited January 2010 in Subreports
Hello

I'm attempting to utilise one of the new features of RB11 in a report
for one of our end users.

I have a report containing 7 subreports - each with it's own data
pipeline. I need to persuade the report too create a text file
containing the data from 4 of the controls in each subreport.

I've set up the print to file controls and I'm getting the correct data
output, but I don't seem to have any control over the order that the
records appear in. For example the first line of the file has a record
from sub report 3, the next from sub report 7 and so on. Worse,
occasionally two records get combined into on line like so

Sub Rpt 1 Field 1, Sub Rpt 3 Field 1, Sub Rpt 1 Field 2, Sub Rpt 3 Field
2, Sub Rpt 1 Field 3, Sub Rpt 3 Field 3, ..... etc

I can't find any documentation regarding exporting sub reports to text -
is there any way to control the output.

    Hi Rod,

Which minor version of RB 11 are you using? Are you exporting simple text
objects such as labels and dbTexts or are you exporting memo objects?

    Hello Nico

    Thanks for your reply.

The minor version we have embedded in our application is 11.03.

The controls I'm exporting are 2 DBText objects followed by 2 DBCalc
objects - both of the latter are set to SUM data directly from the
relevant data pipeline, and have their display format set to a currency
style ($#,0.00;-$#,0.00). All seems to be correct with the actual data
being exported, it's just the order and the occasional 'merged' record
    that is causing a problem.

I don't know if this makes any difference, but all of the controls are
positioned in exactly the same location in each sub report (so that the
    printed version looks good).

The 'Print to File' set up is set to 'Comma Delimited'.

    Hi Rod,

As a test I placed three subreports inside of a main report's detail band
and exported all text objects (labels and DBTexts) to a comma delimited text
file. This seemed to function correctly. My first suggestion would be to
upgrade your version of ReportBuilder to the latest (11.07). Contact
info@digital-metaphors.com with your serial number and purchasing email
    address for upgrade instructions.

Once you have upgraded, if you still see the same behavior, please send a
simple example I can run on my machine to support@digital-metaphors.com in
.zip format and I'll take a look at it for you.
