Report Wizard - selected fields - order issue

edited October 2010 in End User
Hi

This has not been raised as an issue with my customers, so no panic, but
could you investigate why, in the Report Wizard > Selected Fields list, no
matter what you change the order of the fields to the Report Designer always
orders the fields in a different sequence.

This behaviour has been noticed for some years and keeps irritating me
personally, but as no one is actively chasing me about it I have lived with
it. However whilst I was installing 12.02 I thought I would put pen to
paper.

Regards to all.

    Hi Philip,

    Sorry for the late response.

I am having trouble recreating this behavior on my machine. I'm using a
simple setup (Report, Designer, Button on a form) and I'm connecting to the
DBDEMOS database Customer table. Below are the steps I'm taking to try to
recreate this behavior. Perhaps you can alter them to help be see what is
    going on in your case.

    1. Select File | New | Report Wizard from the main menu in the designer.
    2. Select 5 or 6 random fields to be displayed in the report.
    3. Select to finish the report wizard.

This seems to create a report with the fields in the correct order that I
    selected.

    Hi

I made a couple of video's which demonstrate the behaviour. In both cases
the 2nd and 3rd fields were transposed but often they can be completely
    scrambled up.

    Hi Philip,

Thanks for the examples. There is now a patch available for RB 12.02 that
solves this problem. Send an email to support@digital-metaphors.com to
    receive the patch.
