Search criteria display field name

edited February 2008 in RAP
Hi,

Is it possible to display something else than the database field name
in de autosearch window?

For example, if I have a field named "ttt_year" and I don't want the
user to see "...where ttt_year is ______" but " ... where Year is
_____" .

Is it possible to modify this?

I have the same problem when I am searching on a calc variable, the
users see "where case_when_..... is ________ " instead of the name of
the calc variable...

I use the report builder embedded in our software, so tables en search
criteria's are defined in the datapipeline.

Thankx,

Chantal

    Hi Chantal,

If you are using DADE (data tab) you can click twice on the field alias
(similar to renaming a file in the Windows Explorer) in the Query Designer,
you can alter what is displayed in the AutoSearch dialog and Data Tree.

If you are not using DADE, you can use the field editor of the datapipeline.
Right click over the datapipeline and select Field Editor. From the editor,
you can alter each field's alias.

    Thankx,

This works for normal table fields, but when I use a calc field I
still get the name of the table field it's based on, not the "calc"
    name...

Example: I select the field "difference" on the calc tab and I make
    the calculation "strong_difference" - Expression - ABS(difference).
And then search on strong_difference > NN.
I see "ABS(difference)" on the search tab, instead of
    "strong_difference" ...

Got a tric for this too?

    Hi Chantal,

There is a patch available for RB 10.07 that addresses this problem. Please
send an email to support@digital-metaphors.com requesting the patch.
