Exporting to Excel Data files

edited October 2015 in Devices
Hi, I am using RB15.05 with Delphi XE6 and am trying to find out if
there are restrictions to exporting reports to Excel data files.

I have numerous reports and the simpler ones - as far as I can tell,
the flat file / simple lists from a single table - appear to export to
an Excel Data file with no problems.

However, as soon as I try to export a more complex report with groups /
sub totals / sub reports etc, all I get is an empty spreadsheet. If I
choose to export to an Excel Report, then they seem to work correctly.

Is this by design?

Is there a list of know limitations (eg, cannot contain master-detail
relationships, cannot have subreports etc)?

Are there any report specific settings I need to include for these more
complex reports to export successfully?

Any help much appreciation.

    Hi Steve,

For XlsData only the detail band elements are exported by default. You can
use the File | Print To File Setup dialog to configure the bands and
elements to export. For subreports, select the childreport workspace and
    access the dialog from there.

Check out the RBuilder Help topics for TppXLSDataDevice and
TppXLSReportDevice for details on using these formats.

For RB 16, we introduced native Xlsx export and added some requested
enhancements for Xls and Xlsx export.
