Printing Problems with ThinPrint Client and Citrix

edited March 2005 in Devices
Hi

I have some serious problems with Report builder and Thinprint Client
through Citrix.

Sometimes, print fine. Sometimes start to print hundred of pages.
Sometimes print just blank pages. I know that it is a problem of Report
Builder, because I try to print something else from other programs like
Word, NotePad, Navision end everything is ok.

It must be something wrong between Citrix , ThinPrint and ReportBuilder.
I have used diferent printers even pdf printer and the result is the same.

I am using Report Builder 9.01 and Delphi 6. Can you help me or give
some advice in order to can solve this problem?

Thanks a lot.

    Hi Jesus,

ReportBuilder uses simple Windows API commands to communicate with the
printer driver. It sends the same commands to every printer driver in the
    following fashion...

ReportBuilder ==> Windows API ==> Printer Driver ==> Printer

I'm unsure about ThinPrint but in may be having trouble with some of the API
commands that are sent to it when a report prints. We have many customers
using Citrix without problems although some have in fact experienced issues
printing. Try taking ThinPrint out of the equation and see if that helps.

    Hi

I know Report Builder can print well. But believe me, the only one
application it has problem with ThinPrintClient is Report Builder. Sometimes
I get the pages in Blank and others a lot of pages. If I use for example
Quick Reports or for example Tmemo.Print is working fine.

Do you have any idea How I can solve this in the meantime?. Also I am
waiting an answer from ThinPrint People. I do not understand how I can print
with all the others application except Report Builder. Can I modify
something in the Source code in order to can print?.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jesus,

As a test, try changing your library path to \RBuilder\Source\... and see if
you can find out where the problem is occuring in the RB code. Keep in mind
though that ReportBuilder sends the same commands to every printer driver it
is connected to so this is probably an issue with ThinPrint not handling one
of these commands properly. Are you able to get any reports to work
    correctly?

    Hi

I know now which is the exact problem. The problem is between
ThinprintClient and Report Builder. Report Builder works fine, but there is
a problem , and I do not know why. When I print, if I change in the print
dialog box of thinprint client between Portrait and Landscape, then I get a
well printing. But Why?. Whih any program else this is not necessary, but
with Report Builder I have to do it.

    Please let me know..

    Best Regards

    Hi Jesus,

In the PrinterSettings of your report, does the orientation match the
orientation set in the ThinPrint dialog? If not, this may be causing a
conflict when trying to print your report.
