ExtraDevices: Embedded Fonts

edited January 2005 in Devices
Hi,

we have a problem with the PDF output. In our report we're using a font
called "Variant RoundBold DB" for some text labels. When we export the
report to a PDF file the font isn't embedded. The "Variant Round Bold DB" is
a normal true type font. Is that a problem with the font? How can we solve
this problem?

We're using TExtraDevices 2.93.

Just add the font name to FontsToEmbed property. Normally, only non-western
    fonts will be embedded automatically.

By embedding the font, you are inserting the font file into the PDF. If your users will
have the font already installed, you do not need to embed it.

We're using the PDF export mostly for sending emails. So our customers don't
know which fonts the receiver of the email has already installed into his
system. When I export the report with the Adobe PDF printer the file is only
36 KB of size instead of 116 KB. How does Adobe know wich fonts to embed and
    which not?

Based on your settings in Adobe it will either embed the entire font or a subset
of the font for only those characters you actually use. From the size it looks like
it is subsetting. TExtraDevices does not subset the font at this time.
