Strange lockup problem

edited April 2011 in General
I am using ReportBuilder 11.08 Standard Edition for both Delphi 2010 and
Delphi 7, Windows XP Pro (virtual using VMWare 7.1.1)

Strangely, this problem is occuring in both D2010 and D7 versions.

I create a new project, drop a TPpReport onto a form, and Delphi freezes,
displaying an hourglass indefinitely.

Also, when the component is dropped onto the form, it positions itself in
the upper/left corner of the form.

I can drop all other ReportBuilder components onto the form without problem.

    Hi John,

We have not seen this behavior before. Have you tried recreating this
outside a virtual machine? I also suggest downloading a trial version
of RB 12.04 and seeing if that helps.

    Hi John,

i had a strange error under VMWare too.
This happened when the default printer was set to a VMWare virtual
    printer.

After installing a PDF Printer (Free PDF) and setting it as the default
    printer, the problem was gone.

I tried upgrading with the latest trial version, and the same issue occured.

I eventually had to recreate my entire virtual machine and start over.

Thanks Erwin, I gave this a try, but ended up recreating my virtual machine.

    Hi John,

Did recreating the VM solve the problem or does it still exist? Are you
able to open any of the built-in demos and run them successfully?

Yes, recreating the VM and reinstalling all applications solved the
    problem.
