Export to Excel 2010 - Office File Validation: There is a problem opening file

Hello,

we are using ReportBuilder 12 with Delphi XE.

If our customers have installed Office 2010, then the xls files which we
are created with Reportbuilder (Device XLSData or XLSReport) can't be
open with Excel (with Excel 2007 it works fine).

The error message is : Office File Validation : There is a problem openi
ng file.

Any ideas, why this happens?

This discussed in another thread on this newsgroup, here is my response...

Older versions of Excel work fine, Excel 2010 has some security validation
that MS added to prevent virus/malware xls files from running on your
computer. The RB files are safe, we are continuing to research a solution to
prevent the error message from appearing. The file can opened and edited.
You can also use the Excel 2010 trust center to specify directory locations
that are safe and that will prevent the validation from occurring.

Nard,

We practically cannot use the Excel export if it fails in Excel 2010 or
required configuration changes. Our software is used by thousands of
users and they will not accept this.
In my opinion it is a showstopper. Any chance to speed up this development?

Please update to RB 14.03 and re-test. I tried to address the validation
issues.

Nard,

thanks for the good news. We however will not finish updating our
software to RB 14 for the next release and thus would be wondering
whether you are going to publish a patch for RB 12 as well?
While I fully appreciate the technical redesign you made for the preview
screen and the new features that come with this we need to make sure it
does not break existing functionality.

Stephan, Dima,

There will be no further patches for RB 12.x. If you want to purchase RB 14
and use a Diff viewer and try to backport code you can give it a try, but
for a patch you are limited to modifying only the Implementation section of
the unit, so you would have to work around that limitation as well. Your
best bet is to just wait until you upgrade to RB 14 and test it at that
time.

I test RB 14 last 2 month.
I have some problems with updating my software to RB 14.

Nard,

I have purchased the update to RB 14 as well and am keen to bringing it
to our customers but this required more time.
If it was an easy step now that you have the code it would have been
easiert for me.
