Wish list - Output devices - Excel, RTF, HTML, XHML, JPG, etc.

edited August 2009 in Devices
Hello, my suggestion it to add the devices to a future to do list.

It would be very nice if Report Builder could treat the output devices by it
self.

Export to Excel, RTF, JPG, HTML, XHML, and other formats are a very nice
features, and I feel completely abandoned by the third-party partners that
you
recomend at your website.

James Waler (the best solution in my option) is not working on it probably
due some health / family problems.

RBExportDevices does not do the job concerning Excel.
Adjusts on every report, an even with that errors...
bad support, not worried with the customers in my option.

Gnostice apparently has similar problems according to the newsgroup.

May be it's time to digital-metaphors consider these issues and to implement
these features.

Once we delivery our customers these features they expect that on new
versions,
so it would be a very nice idea to add it on your product.

Delphi 2009 brought several problems with third part components and
every new version seems to bring more problems for us, the developers.

    Hi Abel,

Thank you for the suggestions. We understand that many of our customers
need these export devices included natively and with the same quality as
the rest of ReportBuilder and we are definitely taking note.

Note that RB Server does include XHTML export.

I would like to second that.

I am a current user of TExtraDevices but still using D7 and D2007 for that
    matter.
This is becoming more and more of an issue because I do have a SA contract
    for Delphi.
Can't we make a joint effort (Waler, DM, some users) to bring the current
version to support the latest Delphi + ReportBuilder versions? Also buying a
new license from Waler would not be the problem.

I must second everything said about the export devices. My experience of the
Excel export especially is extremely difficult as clients expect 100%
accuracy and we cannot gaurantee that. If it is a question of money I would
pay for it without a problem as the lack of 100% excel export is causing me
problems with customers. I do not expect it 'built in' and would gladly pay
so you can look at covering the development cost.

From my point of view if we had a channel to the base data that we could
stream from the server that would be great. We could make sure that all we
need is in the data selected rather than in RAP.

When exporting to Excel are you wanting to export the data values, similar
to what the RB delimited-text export can do? Or export the graphical layout,
to look like the screen or printer output?

Define accuracy. Is there data missing?
