Developer's Guide
The Developer’s Guide is a 450-page manual that is designed to help you get started using ReportBuilder. All of the basic parts of the user-interface are described; the Delphi components that make up ReportBuilder are described; and the report components available within the Report Designer are described. A set of tutorials steps you through simple to highly complex report construction. There are also several tutorials that show how to build reporting and end-user reporting applications.
Learning ReportBuilder
Learning ReportBuilder is a complete learning system designed to teach end users how to build a range of reports. This system includes a 125-page PDF file, a stand-alone application complete with a database, and a help file.
The PDF file is comprised of a series of tutorials that step end users through the process of building reports as simple as a table listing and as complex as crosstabs. The tutorials also introduce conceptual aspects of report building along the way.
Learning ReportBuilder installs into C:\Program Files\Learn ReportBuilder. When the system has successfully installed, a complete set of instructions appears in the form of a ‘ReadMe’ doc, so the end user knows what to do next. The documentation requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The application is used in conjunction with the tutorials so that the learning experience is interactive. The end user just prints out the PDF file, runs the application, and learns ReportBuilder. The help file is accessible from the application, so all three tools work together to provide a seamless learning environment.
Learning ReportBuilder RAP
Learning to RAP is designed to teach end-users how to use ReportBuilder’s Calc workspace to perform calculations and control visual aspects of the report while it is generating.
Learning to RAP is written for end-users who have mastered the concepts taught by Learning ReportBuilder and desire to build more advanced data driven documents.
Learning to RAP includes a 59-page PDF file and a stand-alone application complete with a database. The PDF file is comprised of a series of tutorials that step end users through the process of coding calculations and event-handlers to dynamically control report generation.
The application is used in conjunction with the tutorials so that the learning experience is interactive. When the system has successfully installed, a complete set of instructions appears in the form of a ‘ReadMe’ doc, so the end user knows what to do next. The documentation requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.
